The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council recently issued an announcement to decide that, starting from December 1, 2022, the customs duties and taxes originating in Afghanistan, the Republic of Benin, Burkina Faso, the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, the Kingdom of Lesotho, the Republic of Malawi, Sao Tome and 98% of the tax items in 10 least developed countries, including the Democratic Republic of Principe, the United Republic of Tanzania, the Republic of Uganda and the Republic of Zambia, are subject to zero tariffs.

Among them, the 98% tax items are the tax items with a tax rate of 0 in the annex to the "Announcement of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council on Granting Zero Tariff Treatment to Products of 98% Tax Items in Least Developed Countries" (Announcement No. 8 [2021] of the Tax Commission), a total of 8,786 tax items. , including meat, seafood, fruits and vegetables, etc.

In accordance with China's relevant commitments to give zero-tariff treatment to some products of the least developed countries, and according to the progress of the exchange of letters, China has granted zero-tariff treatment to 97% of the products of 42 countries including the Republic of Angola, and to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar for 95% of the products of tax-free items. treatment.

This time, China has granted zero-tariff treatment to 98% of tax items from 10 countries including Afghanistan, which is conducive to implementing the mutually beneficial and win-win strategy of opening up, promoting the building of an open world economy, and supporting and helping the least developed countries to accelerate their development. In the follow-up, China will continue to gradually grant zero-tariff treatment to 98% of tax items from the least developed countries that have established diplomatic relations with China, based on the progress of the exchange of letters.
