The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Chinese name Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday that falled on the 5th day of May from Chinese Lunar calendar. This year, it was celebrated on June 10th. The festival has a history of over 2,000 years and was celebrated to commemorate the death of the legendary poet Qu Yuan.

During the festival, people eat traditional sticky rice dumplings called Zongzi, drink realgar wine, and held the race of the dragon boat. The Zongzi are pyramid-shaped parcels made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves, filled with various ingredients such as pork, beans, and dates etc. Realgar wine is a drink believed to ward off evil spirits.

One of the most exciting activities of the Dragon Boat Festival is the dragon boat races. In Hengkeng, Dongguan, Guangdong, a thrilling dragon boat race is held every year. Teams compete in ornately decorated dragon boats, racing to the beat of drums and cheers from the crowd. The winning team is crowned with glory with both cash and prize for the honor.
