The European Union plans to install solar panels on all buildings from 2030, enabling rapid and large-scale PV deployment, Croatian radio N1 reported. The European Union proposes to implement a legal obligation to install solar roofs on commercial and public buildings from 2026; from 2030, to implement a legal obligation to install solar roofs on new residential buildings. The Croatian Society of Construction Engineers said that this may drive up the cost of new construction in Croatia, but if the energy efficiency of the whole life cycle of the building is considered, the installation of solar power systems will not increase the cost in the end. In the past few months, the demand for solar power generation systems in buildings has also increased. According to the owner of Solvis, the largest solar panel production company in Croatia, the cost of installing solar panels in households generally ranges from 40,000 to 70,000 kuna. If the family house installs 3-4 kilowatts of solar panels, plus the grid connection cost, it is about 3,000 kuna, and the annual power generation is 5,000 to 6,000 kilowatts, which can save 5-6,000 kuna in electricity bills per year. The Croatian Ministry of Economy stated that Croatia already has a relevant legal framework to encourage the installation of solar panels in buildings, and the process of applying for subsidies is also easier.
